Don was born on February 20, 1924 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Charles and Mame Duncan. He was one of eight children; three brothers and four sisters. At the age of ten, he and his family moved to Sac City, Iowa. Don was a WWII veteran, serving in the South Pacific, and was very proud of his service. He was a member of the AMVETS for his entire adult life.
In 1950, he married Evelyn Schulte. They settled in Rockwell City in 1955 and raised four children. Don worked for Iowa Public Service (Mid America) for thirty-three years and retired in 1986. He would joke that he had been in every house in Rockwell City and knew almost everyone in town as part of his job.
Don lived his life with a positive attitude and had a good sense of humor. Don enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was an excellent cook and never missed a meal. We will miss his smile and twinkling blue eyes.
Many thanks to the staff at Shady Oaks for taking care of our dad.
