Gowrie- Dave E. Hoover, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, June 10, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lost Grove Township Cemetery, Harcourt. A visitation will be after 4:00 pm Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.
Dave is survived by his wife, Delores Hoover of Gowrie; daughter, Denise (Joe) Wiederin of Farnhamville; son, Dusty Hoover of Gowrie; 3 grandchildren, Emily (John) Coffey, Betsy (Andrew Lemus) Wiederin, and Ethan Wiederin; great grandson, John Coffey; brothers, Doug (Phyllis) Hoover of Roland and Randy (Robin) Hoover of Fort Dodge; aunts, Maxine Dunbar and Donna (Shelby) Hill and uncles, Dennis (Sue) Bair and L.J. (Joanne) Bair.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Betty (Bair) Hoover; daughter, Deann Hoover; and sister, Judith and brother, Terry Hoover.
Dave E. Hoover was born March 10, 1943 at Leon, Iowa. He attended grade school in Leon and Junior High School in Creston. He graduated from Prairie View High School, Gowrie in 1961. Dave was united in marriage with Delores Swanson April 11, 1964 at Gowrie. They established their home in Gowrie. Dave was employed at Gowrie News for 42 years and was a bus driver for the local school district for 52 years. Dave was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a charter member of the Gowrie Jaycees. He served on the Gowrie Parks Board for 34 years and was chairman for 24 years.
